The Mothership offers a before-school program (The Sun Room) and an afterschool program (The Moon Room) which will be run by Launch Your Kid. By participating in The Sun and The Moon Programs, children will have the opportunity to collaborate, explore, move, craft and play!

SUN ROOM (Before Care)

SAMPLE SCHEDULE

Drop off begins at 8:00 AM. Children will be escorted to their classroom at 8:50 AM. You may drop off anytime after 8:00 AM that is convenient for your family. Each day may vary depending on the needs of the children, but here is a sample schedule:

8:00-8:15 — Drop-Off / Free Play
8:15-8:45 — Puzzles, Coloring, Storytime
8:50-9:00 — Sing the seed of the month and walk children to their classroom

MOON ROOM (After Care)

Each day may vary depending on the needs of the children, but here is a sample schedule:

1:00–1:15 — Collect children from classrooms
1:15–1:30 — Bathroom
1:30–1:45 — Snack
1:45–2:00 — Yoga, Music, or Movement
2:00–2:30 — Craft or Activity
2:30–2:40 — Bathroom
2:40–3:00 — Outside Time (weather permitting)

Frequently Asked Questions

What time is the Sun Room? What time is the Moon Room?
The Sun Room provides before care from 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM.
The Moon Room provides after care from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

Who teaches the Sun and Moon Rooms?
There is an onsite manager for our Sun and Moon Room. Additionally there are two to three teachers leading the Sun and Moon Room.

How do I register?
Registration is handled by Launch Your Kid. Go to www.launchyourkid.com and click “Register.” Select “Charlotte” as your city, “The Mothership” as the location, and add the programs you would like to your cart.

How does billing work?
We bill on a recurring basis monthly with the card you have on file.

How does a drop-in work?
If you would like to drop-in for one day, please email Payton@launchyourkid.com with the date you’re interested in and whether you are looking for before or after school care. If we are not at capacity, we would be happy to have your little one join us for that day! Please email us at least 24 hours in advance.

Where do I drop off my child in the morning?
Our Sun Room begins at 8 am, and we cannot accept earlier drop offs due to staffi ng. Please walk your child in and take them to the bathroom before bringing their belongings to their cubby in the Sunshine Room. A teacher will sign your child in on the Brightwheel iPad located in the Sunshine Room. If your child is also registered for Moon Room, please place their snack in the designated snack box in the Sunshine Room. Parents and children are not permitted in any classroom areas during this time.

Will my child have snack during aftercare?
Yes, we will have a designated snack time. Please pack your child an extra snack (nut free!) and place their snack in the designated snack box in the Sunshine Room during morning drop off.

My child still naps. How do you handle naps?
Our Sun Room is open to all ages. However, the Moon Room is designed for older children (ages 3 to 5) who have fully transitioned out of napping and are fully potty-trained. Families are encouraged to try the Moon Room Drop-In option before committing to a full month.

My child just turned 3, is potty-trained, and no longer naps. Can they join the Moon Room?
At this time, we’re not able to enroll children who have just turned 3 into the Moon Room. To participate, children must already be placed in a 3-year-old classroom at The Mothership, rather than turning 3 during the school year.

How does pick up work?
Parents and caregivers may not open the playground gate; instead, please wait outside and a staff member will bring your child to you after you check them out on Brightwheel. If pick-up takes place inside, parents should wait until a staff member releases each child individually to their grown-up, as all pick-ups will be one-on-one and children will not be released in groups, except for siblings. If someone other than a parent or usual caregiver will be picking up, please send a message through Brightwheel in advance. Likewise, if your child will be picked up early or late, please notify a staff member through Brightwheel so we are aware.

What if I’m late to pick up my child?
All children should be picked up at 3:00 p.m from our Moon Room. If a caregiver arrives after 3:05 p.m. A $1.00/minute for every minute after 3:05 p.m. will be charged. Launch Your Kid will collect the fee charges and bill your child’s account at the end of each month.

Can I sign up after the first of the month?
Yes! We would love to have your child at any point during the month. Just email Payton@launchyourkid.com and she will provide you with a prorated price for the month. Enrollment is year-round however space is limited.

If I register/pay in May, will I be charged in September too?
Your May payment will cover your fi rst month’s tuition. If you register in advance, payment for September will be skipped and your recurring payment schedule will resume in October.

Will a month like December be prorated for the holiday break?
Tuition is not prorated for holidays/closings. The monthly price is based on the total number of school days in the year divided over the number of months school is in session.

What if my needs change, can I cancel my registration?
You can cancel by the 15th of the previous month to ensure you are not charged. For example, if you would like to stop care for November, you must email Payton by Oct 15th to avoid a charge. Please email Payton@launchyourkid.com to cancel registrations.

Who should I contact if I have any more questions?
Please contact our on-site manager for our Sun and Moon Rooms. They will be handling all of the day-to-day operations. Please feel free to communicate any issues to her via Brightwheel or in person. For example: “I’m running late but should be there soon to pick up Henry.”, “Henry mentioned yesterday that Sam wasn’t sharing and tried to push him when he asked for the truck. Can you tell me more about this?”, "Henry has a doctor's appointment after school, so he won't be staying in the Moon Room tomorrow.", etc.
